Release Manager Job Description

NTT DATA Services is seeking a skilled Release Manager to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia (CA-NS), Canada (CA). As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth orchestration of maintenance and release changes for application development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and facilitate the planning of maintenance and release changes for application development teams.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication to IT and business stakeholders regarding status updates, system availability, and completion notifications.
  • Analyze symptoms and causes, identify and define problems to be solved, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships across IT teams and demonstrate customer service support focus to deliver the highest level of customer service.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to schedule application releases and maintenance changes for production, including work plans and timelines.
  • Anticipate issues and identify risks for a release or maintenance event, recommend solutions, and work with management across IT teams to implement them.
  • Track key milestones of the release and maintenance schedule through the development and deployment lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of release management experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in an IT application development environment.
  • 2+ years of leading projects of large complex operational systems across the enterprise.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in change management and process development.
  • 2+ years of displayed leadership and team-centric skills, strong solution orientation, and communication.

Desired Skills:

  • Good knowledge of software development lifecycles, including waterfall and agile.
  • Good knowledge of release and support management, including application release and infrastructure maintenance practices.
  • Good knowledge of quality metrics and tracking.
  • Good knowledge of resource management and tracking.
  • Experience in Microsoft Project, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, Atlassian JIRA and Confluence, ServiceNow.
  • Experience in leading application release and infrastructure maintenance process improvements, such as deployment automation.
