Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Research Project Assistant to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Research Project Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the recruitment of research participants, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining databases and spreadsheets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the recruitment of research participants by contacting eligible individuals, communicating research project goals and processes, and reviewing and witnessing consent forms.
  • Collect and analyze data for research projects by administering questionnaires, extracting data from hospital health records, and typing consent forms.
  • Maintain databases and spreadsheets, and enter project data as required.
  • Respond to verbal and written communication, and liaise internally and externally to respond to, share information, and clarify details on specific research projects and data.
  • Participate in meetings, gather background materials, and conduct relevant and timely research literature searches and reviews.
Requirements
  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in a field such as public health, health sciences, statistics, or psychology, and two (2) years of recent, related experience in a health research environment.
  • Knowledge of library database searching methods, research project processes, and scientific terminology and research methodology in the health sector.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, database, and internet applications and tools.
  • Ability to apply sound research skills, organize various data for record and collection purposes, and exercise good judgment and discretion while using confidential information.
