Research Project Coordinator CDPACS Immunization Programs

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Project Coordinator to join our team at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating research projects related to immunization programs, including the Sentinel Practitioner Surveillance Network for annual influenza vaccine effectiveness evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate research activities across groups and collaborators from various organizations, including research staff, sites, and teams; provincial, national and international collaborators; and other partners and stakeholders to discuss and resolve issues and challenges.
- Develop materials such as research proposals & protocols, consent forms, and data collection tools, and assist in the development of funding applications and Research Ethics Board submissions.
- Assist in establishing budgets and milestones for projects and grants, and develop strategies to monitor the progress of projects to ensure objectives and milestones are met.
- Review, evaluate and develop study materials, tools, and documentation, and provide recruitment, orientation, and training to staff and study participants.
- Contribute to the development of research proposals and projects in collaboration with the Principal Investigator; assist with developing budget and monitoring expenditures for assigned projects, grants and core activities to ensure that funds are spent as planned and within budget and that project objectives are achieved.
- Establish procedures to ensure that objectives for assigned projects, grants and core activities are met. Research project management methodologies, tools and techniques for application in assigned projects.
- Assist in the development of funding applications, the preparation and submission of Research Ethics Board and other required approvals. Perform literature reviews and assembles relevant literature in support of research projects.
- Provide direction and advice throughout the project lifespan at all levels of the Centre/Agency and on multiple projects and programs; participate in initiatives in project management research, methodology, design, planning, implementation, integration, evaluation and ongoing monitoring.
- Identify, problem solve, and work to remove barriers to successful project completion, with emphasis on resolving issues and facilitating collaborative relationships on assigned projects across departments, collaborators, funding agencies and external stakeholders. Identify interdependencies between various groups and projects within the Centre/Agency and facilitate communication among task groups.
- Maintain research databases, such as data gathered from the Sentinel Practitioner Surveillance Network provincial partners, assesses and cleans the data to ensure database quality.
- Evaluate whether project objectives/milestones are met in consultation with the Principal Investigator and identifies discrepancies for the attention of the Leader or designate. Recommend strategies and develops plans in collaboration with project leaders to resolve project efficiency issues where required.
- Assist with scientific dissemination efforts such as scientific abstracts, poster presentations, and oral presentation slides and/or scientific manuscripts for publication as well as knowledge translation to a broader audience through methods such as web platform updates.
- Identify and propose potential funding sources and develops funding applications; assist in writing and editing research proposals; budget preparation and forecasting; and curriculum vitae maintenance.
- Provide work and research study direction to staff, students, and trainees as required. Provide feedback on performance and orient new staff within assigned projects.
- Liaise with grant/core agencies and collaborators on project objectives and scientific issues and refer strategic issues to the Principal Investigator.
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Science, Nursing, or a related health field and five (5) years of experience in a research project coordination and/or a research development and certification as a Project Management Professional.
- Tri-Counsel Ethics Training for Research Involving Human Subjects and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification would be considered an asset.
