Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Community Relations Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with First Nation community partners, local stakeholders, and government representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with local First Nations and community members to foster trust and understanding.
- Meet and collaborate with local community representatives and council to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Coordinate and lead community meetings and commitments, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged.
- Work with project functional areas to implement and track Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) commitments.
- Ensure that provincial and federal licensing and permitting commitments regarding communities and First Nations are tracked and met.
- Collaborate with project technical leads and the training coordinator to ensure project documentation and training initiatives are culturally aligned.
- Work with the environmental manager to deliver environmental studies, management plans, and permits that align with IBA(s) and licensing conditions.
- Lead the project's implementation of Alamos' Sustainability Performance Management Framework, focusing on community-related standards.
- Coordinate site visits with stakeholders as required.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Proven track record of developing and sustaining relationships with Indigenous community leaders, members, and their advisors.
- Minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) of relevant professional work experience, including experience working with First Nations in remote communities.
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Outstanding decision-making skills, with a strategic and objective approach to challenges and opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work in diverse cultures with tact, savvy, and an understanding of differences in business environments.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
- Commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
- Experience implementing mining industry IBAs is considered an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications.
