Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Systems Specialist to join our team at Iridian Spectral Technologies Limited.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Utilize proprietary software to design complex optical filters that meet customer specifications and prioritize manufacturability.
  • Customer Collaboration: Communicate with customers to understand their application requirements and gather knowledge on potential applications.
  • Manufacturing Optimization: Assess the outcome of designs in manufacturing and identify areas for improvement.
  • Custom Product Evaluations: Collaborate with Sales Engineers on custom product evaluations to ensure optimal solutions.
  • Research and Development: Conduct research and development on new filter types and approaches to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Design Trade-Offs: Work with customer technical personnel to balance design trade-offs and optimize product applications.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with Process Engineering, Filter Processing, Deposition, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to drive cross-functional projects.
  • Problem-Solving: Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to implement effective solutions and overcome challenges.
  • Security Clearance: Maintain security clearance associated with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
  • Special Projects: Lead or participate in special projects as required to drive business growth and innovation.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Optics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of optics, thin films, and physics; excellent computer skills; good teamwork and communication capabilities; analytical skills; adaptability.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in optical system design and development; experience working with proprietary software; experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
