We are looking for an experienced High-Level Optical Process Development Specialist to join our worldwide end-to-end product development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing process engineering solutions in support of product development, NPI, and manufacturing of various optical product families.
About the Role
- Work directly with optical product design and development teams to provide process engineering solutions in support of new product development, with subsequent NPI and manufacturing support.
- Supports new technology research and development pertaining to optical process solutions.
- Manage projects and timelines to meet milestones on various customer projects.
- Develop active alignment recipes on automated optical alignment systems for free space optics, grating, coupling, edge coupling, fiber arrays, etc.
- Troubleshoot and analyze process performance problems, providing technical guidance to less experienced team members.
- Conduct research into complex engineering problems to develop new operating policies, capabilities, and processes.
- Assist the Process Engineering team in delivering accountabilities, taking ownership of processes under control.
- Help create Process Assembly documentation.
- Conceptualize tooling and fixtures.
- Perform qualification on new processes being introduced.
- Implement and suggest engineering changes.
- Research, procure, and accept new equipment for evolving technologies.
- Support customer NPI builds within tight timelines, providing DFx type feedback to internal and external customers to optimize manufacturability and increase yields.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- 8+ years' experience in a Process or Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Experience with active optical alignment of free space optics, preferably with ficonTEC automated aligners.
- Proficiency in equipment programming on different pieces of equipment.
- Background in executing 'best practice' process control.
- Understanding of operating methodologies in electronics assembly environments.
- Experience implementing Engineering changes.
- Hands-on build experience handling bare dies or miniature components.
- Experience with laser welding, Labview, or motion control software programming.
- Auto cad/SolidWorks proficiency.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, DFM, and FMEA.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum
