Job Title: Single Mother's Support Group Facilitator

YWCA Metro Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Single Mother's Support Group Facilitator to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Single Mother's Support Group Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating peer support group meetings for single mothers in Langley. This is a contract position that requires approximately 3-4 hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate single mothers peer support group meetings in person, creating a safe and supportive environment for women.
  2. Attend monthly facilitator meetings to share information and resources with other group facilitators.
  3. Responsible for content, continuity, and tone of the group meetings.
  4. Support with setup and cleanup before and after meetings, including sanitizing common areas.
  5. Conduct intake of potential group members.
  6. Assist coordination with community partners for the group meetings.
  7. Provide YWCA and partner agency with monthly group reports as required.
  8. Provide community resources, information, and referral to individual group members as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Must have solid experience in group facilitation.
  2. Knowledge in group process and dynamics, especially in peer support model.
  3. Training and experience in the social services field, such as social work, counseling, or community support.
  4. Excellent communication skills, including conflict management.
  5. Solid understanding of the issues faced by single mothers today.
  6. Solid knowledge of the various local community services in Langley and the Fraser Valley and resources available to single moms and their children.
  7. Experience working with multi-barriered women and people from diverse backgrounds.
  8. Believe in empowering women and passionate about supporting women in their journey towards personal and economic independence.
  9. A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.

What We Offer:

A competitive contract fee of $400 per month, plus a $20/month travel and parking allowance.
