New Graduate Opportunity – Labour Relations Consultant
Job OverviewOntario Power Generation Inc. is seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join its team in the role of Labour Relations Expert. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Labour Relations, this position provides expert guidance and support on labour relations matters, including interpreting collective agreements, managing grievances, and preparing cases for mediation, arbitration, and bargaining.
The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.
This role involves developing negotiation strategies, delivering training, and fostering effective relationships with union representatives to ensure alignment with corporate policies and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with HR Business Partners, Line Managers, and Senior Leadership providing advice on collective agreements and staff relations matters.
- Support efficient and effective processing of grievances involving represented staff.
- Assist and act as management's advisor by providing and presenting management briefs, rebuttal material, and supporting data.
- Work with Legal Counsel, HR Business Partners, and Line Management to prepare cases for mediation and arbitration.
- Recommend, develop, and deliver labour relations training and specialized seminars.
- Support the point of contact with unions by resolving questions, complaints, or requests for information.
• University Degree and Master of Industrial Relations is required; CHRP, CHRL, CHRE are assets.
• Labour Relations and/or Human Resources experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and project management capabilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Lotus Notes is an asset.
• Valid Ontario Driver's License in good standing is necessary for this position.
Compensation and BenefitsThe estimated salary for this role is $85,000 - $123,000 per year, based on industry standards and market research. Additionally, the company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.
