About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Technician to join our team at ANDRITZ AG. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for creating detailed drawings and designs for heavy mechanical equipment, working closely with engineers to ensure accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and prepare 3D models and detailed drawings of heavy mechanical equipment, including dam gates, hoists, and embedded parts.
  • Research and select components and parts for design and assembly.
  • Collaborate with engineers to participate in the design process and assist with detailed design tasks using CAD/CAM development tools.
  • Check plans for compliance with existing guidelines, code requirements, and regulations.
  • Meet deadlines and ensure that designs are feasible and meet company requirements.
  • Produce a list of materials on drawings and answer questions from stakeholders.
  • Define functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing of components.
  • Participate in team meetings and check drawings for compliance with customer specifications and design data.
Requirements
  • Diploma of college studies (DCS) in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Attention to quality and detail.
  • Good analytical and concentration skills.
  • Spirit of initiative.
  • Excellent written and spoken French.
  • Functional written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor (an asset).
  • Knowledge of welding and machining (an asset).
  • Experience in heavy mechanical equipment design (an asset).
  • Experience in hydroelectricity (an asset).
