About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Supervisor to join our team at the Eagle River Complex in Ontario, Canada. This is a challenging role that requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a passion for health and safety.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the Health and Safety program within the Eagle River Complex. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a visible presence in the field to provide support to mine and mill operations
  • Coaching and mentoring employees at all levels on HS&E programs
  • Reviewing and staying up-to-date with applicable legislation and standards to ensure compliance
  • Setting, monitoring, and governing H&S Portfolio Targets
  • Auditing the Safety Management System for compliance and updating procedures as needed
  • Providing support and resources to managers, supervisors, foremen, and peers within the health & safety department
  • Participating in incident investigations to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Developing toolbox talks, safety meetings, packages, and other materials as required
  • Presenting health and safety topics in group settings
  • Conducting site safety inspections and implementing corrective actions
  • Assisting the training department as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 3+ years' experience in a health and safety position
  • Prior supervisory and training experience
  • Occupational health and safety degree, diploma, or certificate (CRSP would be an asset)
  • Construction Safety (Reg. 213/91) experience considered an asset
  • Excellent comprehension, knowledge, and understanding of Reg. 854/OH&S Act Ontario
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Team and safety-oriented approach
