Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Construction Trades Assistant to join our team at ESSKAY HOMES INC. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for assisting in the loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials, as well as performing various tasks such as cleaning and lubricating cranes, erecting and dismantling concrete forms, and instructing apprentices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials
  • Clean and lubricate cranes
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Assemble tower cranes on site
  • Assist in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites
  • Operate bridge or overhead cranes to lift, move, and place plant machinery and materials
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Operate cranes mounted on boats or barges to lift, move, and place equipment and materials
  • Operate dragline cranes to expose coal seams and ore deposits at open pit mines
  • Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction

Requirements:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience
  • Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in dusty environments
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) training
  • Industrial, commercial, and institutional construction experience
  • Residential construction experience
  • Underground and tunnel work experience
