Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Controller to join our team at our Vaughan location. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing plant controlling responsibilities and providing analytical business performance support. This role requires a strong background in finance, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex topics effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage timely completion of month-end financial close, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Analyze and reconcile accounts to ensure balance sheet and costs are properly stated
  • Prepare and enter adjusting journal entries, maintaining proper accounting standards
  • Prepare and analyze monthly operating cost variances to standard, prior month, prior year, and provide meaningful commentary
  • Maintain proper spending controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls
  • Lead and direct budgeting process at plant, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Lead and direct annual standard cost roll at plant for manufactured products, optimizing costs and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with SGC, CertainTeed, and Ceilings division policies and internal controls
  • Monitor and facilitate Capex project completions and fixed asset capitalizations/retirements
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
  • 3-5+ years of increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a finance or accounting role
  • SAP experience a plus, but not required
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex topics to a non-financial audience
  • Experience analyzing variances in a manufacturing/cost accounting environment
  • Strong Excel skills, with ability to create complex spreadsheets and models
