We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Mentor for the Kistesimaw "Eldest Brother" program.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide direct support to young boys under the age of 12, offering positive mentorship and helping to prevent future police contact through advocacy support, structured recreation, cultural-based activities, and school-based support activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and provide feedback on program delivery tools
  • Implement, evaluate, and monitor the program
  • Manage day-to-day program operations and participants
  • Facilitate, plan, and deliver youth activities
  • Provide creative and sincere mentorship and support
  • Recruit participants
  • Ensure traditional knowledge is incorporated in program design, development, and delivery
  • Transport participants safely
Requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of the male role influence when working with boys
  • Active and engaged mentorship to ensure participants attend recreational and leisure activities, appointments, referrals, educational, cultural, and other resources
  • Detailed case notes documentation and report production
  • Program planning, preparation, and facilitation
  • Maintain regular contact with participants and families, and collaterals
  • Demonstrate and incorporate cultural knowledge competence
  • Strong understanding of child development processes
Qualifications
  • Relevant post-secondary education or combination of education and experience
  • One to two years' experience working with Indigenous boys, ages 12 and under
  • Valid Manitoba Driver's License, clear driver's abstract, and reliable transportation
