Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Mentor at Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc.

About the Role:

As a member of our Leading Black Wolf program, you will provide transitional supports for youth aged 16-21 who are leaving the care of Child and Family Services. Your role will involve one-on-one mentorship, facilitating culturally based activities, and connecting youth with community resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized support plans with mentees
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for youth to grow and thrive
  • Teach life skills, such as budgeting, housing, and healthy relationships
  • Recruit and retain participants, addressing concerns and troubleshooting requests
  • Model responsible behavior and promote a culture of respect and empathy
  • Ensure traditional knowledge is integrated into all aspects of the program
  • Organize and facilitate youth activities, promoting creativity and holistic growth
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator to address concerns and challenges
  • Adhere to organizational safety protocols and procedures

Requirements:

  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of experience working with vulnerable youth
  • Valid Manitoba Driver's License, clear driving record, and reliable transportation
