Job Title: Kistesimaw – Mentor

Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified Mentor to join our team at Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. The successful candidate will provide direct support for young boys under the age of 12, promoting positive mentorship and preventing future police contact through advocacy, structured recreation, and cultural-based activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and provide feedback on program delivery tools
  • Implement, evaluate, and monitor the program
  • Manage day-to-day program operations and participants
  • Facilitate and plan youth activities, providing creative and sincere mentorship and support
  • Recruit participants and ensure traditional knowledge is incorporated in program design and delivery
  • Provide safe transportation for participants
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated understanding of the male role influence when working with boys
  • Active and engaged mentorship to ensure participants attend appointments, referrals, and educational activities
  • Ability to document case notes and produce report documentation
  • Program planning, preparation, and facilitation skills
  • Maintain regular contact with participants and families, and collaterals
  • Demonstrate cultural knowledge competence and strong understanding of child development processes
Qualifications:
  • Relevant post-secondary education or combination of education and experience
  • One – two (1-2) years' experience working with Indigenous boys, ages 12 and under
  • Valid Manitoba Driver's License, clear drivers abstract, and reliable transportation
