Mental Health Nursing Educator

The Royal Mental Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join our team. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing education and training to nursing staff on clinical best practices, leading educational programs, and promoting excellence in client-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Education and Training
- Develop and deliver educational programs to nursing staff on clinical best practices, including evidence-based practice and current trends in mental health care.
- Assess learning needs and develop educational programs to meet those needs.
- Collaborate with APNs on educational programs and initiatives.
- Leadership and Mentorship
- Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, including guidance and support in their professional development.
- Guide and assist staff members in cultivating their professional roles and honing their skills.
- Refers staff performance concerns to the managers of the units.
- Quality Improvement
- Participate in continuous quality improvements, including the development and implementation of standards, policies, and procedures.
- Nurtures an environment that supports knowledge translation.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of educational programs and services.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Professional Development
- Stay up-to-date with current nursing theories, research, and practice standards.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Four-year degree in Nursing.
- Masters degree in Nursing or Health-related discipline.
- Registration with RNAO preferred.
- CPR training or re-certification within the last 12 months.
- Three to Five years experience required.
- Proven capability to guide change and assist staff during periods of transition.
- Previous experience in a teaching or managerial position.
- Proven understanding of the principles, theories, and practices of conceptual models of psychiatric care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of patients and staff.
- Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Meditech and WebAmb and ability to translate knowledge of these applications.
- Ability to use the available audiovisual equipment.
- Use of computers to perform a variety of tasks, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word processing, and Outlook.
- Ability to use all clinical equipment available within the units.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally on one-to-one or within a group setting.
- Proven capacity to efficiently plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.
- Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across inter-professional groups and with peers across the organization.
- Demonstrate leadership ability.
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision.
$41.14 to $58.83 per hour
