Job Title: Registered Nurse - Mental Health

At The Royal Mental Health Centre, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team. As a Registered Nurse - Mental Health, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered care to clients in a mental health setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care consistent with the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and patient treatment/rehabilitation needs and goals.
  • Assist in assessment of patients' needs and in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a plan of care for assigned patients in collaboration and consultation with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Establish and promote effective therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
  • Promote a supportive working relationship and effective communication with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Accountable to meet College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards and policies and procedures of The Royal.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Monitor and document patient response to therapeutic interventions.
  • Safe preparation and administration of medication as per policy and standards. Apply the Mental Health Act and all other legislation related to the practice of mental health nursing.
  • Must be able to work in all units in the hospital and long-term care.
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies, and procedures of The Royal.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy.
Qualifications:
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
  • BScN is preferred.
  • CPMHN(c) an asset.
  • Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in mental health nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
  • Able to meet the Standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Ability to work on all units of the ROMHC.
  • Completion of CPI or equivalent.
  • CPR certification within last 12 months.
  • WHMIS update in preceding 12 months.
  • Fire update in preceding 12 months.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Experience with electronic health records an asset.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Salary Range:

$39.07 to $56.00 per hour
