Electrical Maintenance Specialist

You are a skilled Certified Electrician with a passion for keeping complex machinery running smoothly. At Canfor, you will be part of a high-performance team dedicated to maintaining all mill machinery, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers, and chains. Your expertise in electrical distribution systems, PLCs, and Red Seal technical knowledge will be invaluable in this role.

The Opportunity:

You will work closely with a talented team to perform preventative and predictive maintenance, inspecting machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions. Your ability to manage your time effectively, assess situations, and apply your knowledge and skills to troubleshoot issues will be essential in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspecting and testing electrical systems, transformers, transfer switches, and switch gears.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and visitors on site.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and implement safe, reliable fixes to keep the site running.
  • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
  • Manage your time effectively to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Journeyperson Certificate, Red Seal considered an asset but not required.
  • Physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work between day and afternoon shift as required by the schedule.
  • High degree of urgency.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers.
  • Superior troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
