Electrical Commissioning Specialist

Powell Canada Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Specialist to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a key member of our Electrical Division, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical commissioning and testing of switchgear, circuit breakers, and other electrical equipment
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including ANSI IEEE C37
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve electrical issues and improve system performance
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including test reports and project summaries
  • Provide training and support to junior technicians and engineers
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical commissioning, installation, and testing
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, including AC and DC circuits, and Ohm's Law
  • Experience with switchgear and circuit breaker installation, testing, and commissioning
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • NICET Level 1 certification
  • Experience with high-potential testing and low-resistance testing
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical functional testing of circuit breakers and electrical switchgear
