About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Island Health. In this role, you will work closely with patients and families to provide high-quality care and support.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and implementing interventions to promote positive outcomes.

You will also work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for patients and their families.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • a diploma or degree in nursing from a recognized educational institution;
  • current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or RPN registrant;
  • recognized post-basic education related to psychiatric nursing and/or mental illness;
  • two (2) years recent related experience; and
  • a valid BC Driver's License.

Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical competence, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. They will also be able to prioritize and organize client demands made and care needs, and physically and emotionally carry out the duties of the position.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time permanent position with a competitive salary range of $88,000 - $112,000 per year, commensurate with experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health and dental coverage, a pension plan, and generous vacation time.
