Job Description:

This position as a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse is located in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health unit of Alberta Health Services. The successful candidate will provide clinical care to in-patients, utilizing a family-centered model of care.

Nursing responsibilities will focus on children and adolescents with complex emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric difficulties. As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues to provide comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous care to children and families.

The ideal candidate will have recent experience working in child and adolescent in-patient mental health, demonstrating knowledge of child and adolescent development, family dynamics, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide quality healthcare services to patients, families, and communities
  • Apply nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
  • Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour, depending on experience. Provisional Permit Holders will be paid at the lower end of this scale.

Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Recent child and adolescent in-patient mental health experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent development and family dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members
