We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Medical/Surgical Unit at Alberta Health Services. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are committed to providing compassionate and high-quality care to patients requiring short-term assistance or ongoing support.

About the Role
In this role, you will work closely with Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide personal assistance to patients, including supporting activities of daily living and providing basic patient care. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, and ensuring effective communication with patients and health professionals. Additionally, you will contribute to the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will be expected to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide personal assistance to patients, including supporting activities of daily living
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
• Ensure effective communication with patients and health professionals
• Contribute to the provision of routine care to meet patients' needs
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Requirements
• Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire
• Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
• Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
• Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written English
• Knowledge of hospital equipment and supplies
• Ability to provide basic patient care and comfort
• Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required
• Self-direction within the scope and duties of the job
