Job Summary:

The Unit Manager is a critical role within our organization, impacting the lives of residents through strong leadership and motivation of team members. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of nursing professionals to deliver high-quality care and services to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the recruitment, orientation, and performance management process for all team members in the nursing department, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Provide leadership, education, direction, and coordination to team members to ensure assessments and documentation are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate team members, providing leadership and coaching, evaluating performance, and providing input during performance appraisals.
  • Participate in the identification, analysis, and interpretation of trends in resident care outcomes and professional nursing practice issues to determine priorities for educational programming.
  • Ensure ongoing communication with families to inform them of changes in health status and policy updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Holds a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Diploma as a Practical Nurse from a recognized Accredited Educational Institution.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in Long Term Care industry or equivalent.
  • Clinical knowledge and skill in Gerontological Nursing.
  • Proficiency with the classification process and the funding indicators and knowledge of MOHLTC regulations and standards.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
