DRA Global, a leading international engineering, project delivery, and operations management group, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our North America team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in building cost estimates for mining and minerals projects from conceptual to feasibility stage.
Key Responsibilities- Develop Cost Estimates: Build cost estimates from conceptual to feasibility stage, using first principles based on scope of works, drawings, specifications, and program.
- Coordinate Estimate Input: Coordinate estimate input from all relevant disciplines and individuals to ensure accuracy and meet proposal timelines.
- Compile Quantities and Pricing: Compile quantities from various disciplines and price commodities such as bulk earthworks, detail earthworks, concrete, structural steel, architectural building, building services, plateworks, electrical, instrumentation and controls, piping, and insulation.
- Set Up Process Mechanical Equipment Installation Manhours: Set up process mechanical equipment installation manhours.
- Use Material Take-Offs (MTOs): Use MTOs to accurately price on-site infrastructures such as site development, main access roads, service roads, in-plant roads, haul roads, potable water treatment plants, sewage water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, tailings storage, and water reclaim.
- Prepare Estimates in Various Stages: Prepare estimates in various stages with varying degrees of accuracy for conceptual, order of magnitude, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and detailed cost estimates for mining projects.
- Evaluate and Recommend Allowances: Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirects such as contractor indirects, engineering procurement construction management (EPCM), commissioning spares, capital spares, operations spares, first fill, ocean and land freight, vendor representative, start-up, and commissioning.
- Calculate and Analyze Contingency: Calculate and analyze contingency using various methods (parametric and Monte Carlo simulation) to cover unknowns.
- Prepare Basis of Estimate: Prepare the basis of estimate as part of the report and present estimates and conduct review meetings with clients.
- Maintain Documentation: Maintain appropriate documentation to ensure estimating documentation is prepared, reviewed, approved, stored, and audit-ready in accordance with standards and guidelines.
- Liaise with Project Manager and Discipline Engineers: Liaise with the project manager and discipline engineers.
- CAPEX Estimating Experience: CAPEX estimating experience for mining and minerals projects in North America.
- InEight Estimating Package Experience: InEight estimating package experience is advantageous.
- Estimating Standards and Specifications: Good understanding and knowledge of applicable North American estimating standards and specifications.
- Spreadsheets and Database Applications: High level of competence in the use of spreadsheets and/or database applications.
- North American Mining and Minerals Experience: North American mining and minerals and EPCM industry CAPEX estimating experience.
