About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Principal Mining Engineer to join our team at Centerra Gold Inc. in Toronto, ON.

This is a hybrid role that will provide supervision and direction, as well as develop mine design and strategic mine planning to support safe, sustainable, and profitable mining operations.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mine engineering, with 12+ years of relevant practical experience in both open pit and underground mining, including a solid background in mining operations.

The ideal candidate will have a university degree in mine engineering, and be currently registered or qualified to register as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent as defined under National Instrument 43-101.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining a corporate Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves estimation and reporting governance process.
  • Acting as a Qualified Person (QP) to ensure that all public mine engineering-related technical disclosure is current and in compliance with current securities legislation requirements.
  • Providing specialized technical expertise to support the assumptions in mining reserve updates.
  • Providing technical engineering expertise to operations to optimize mine operations, overseeing the LOM and shorter-term planning, as well as potential development of projects and acquisitions.
  • Leading and mentoring other Engineers within the corporate office and with the sites, and reviewing planning and design proposals and executing the implementation of continuous improvement projects.
  • Providing training and collaborating with engineering staffs at operations.
  • Managing and leading teams providing engineering and economic guidance to the Business Development and Exploration groups.
  • Managing mine engineering studies and multidisciplinary work.
  • Conducting due diligence reviews in M&A opportunities.
  • Assisting with the development of long-term planning strategies for the operations and development projects.
  • Providing insight into strategic mine planning to bring current and new assets to their maximum value.
  • Taking a leading role in updating and maintaining cost and financial models.
  • Providing engineering expertise, technical advice, and support to major projects in various stages of development.
  • Recommending and ensuring that the company's engineering policies and best practice procedures are being followed and implemented.
