The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN Coordinator to join our team at the 24/7 Concurrent Disorders Inpatient Unit. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of all nursing and patient-related care and functions on the unit.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in youth mental health and addiction nursing, with a minimum of three to five years of experience in a similar role. They will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, and will be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing. They will also have a strong commitment to patient and family-centered care, and will be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating the unit function in collaboration with the Clinical Leader of Operations to provide an interprofessional approach to care.
  • Identifying, promoting, and collaboratively working toward common interprofessional goals.
  • Facilitating change to overcome issues as identified by audits, staff meetings, patients/families, physicians, and other patient-related departments.
  • Providing clinical support to nursing staff on the unit by assisting them with assessment, planning, evaluation, and documentation of care.
  • Collaborating with the Clinical Leader of Operations when corrective action is required.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN or BScN) required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN).
  • Three to five years experience in youth mental health and addiction nursing required.
  • Successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) course within the last 12 months required or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate required.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification required.
