Job Title: Greenhouse Labourer

P. Ravensbergen & Sons Ltd. is seeking a reliable and physically demanding Greenhouse Labourer to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Greenhouse Labourer to assist in the production of bedding plants and seasonal plants. The successful candidate will be responsible for mixing and preparing soils, potting and re-potting plants, transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings, applying fertilizers, and reporting signs of insect or disease damage.

Responsibilities:
  • Mix and prepare soils for optimal plant growth
  • Pot and re-pot plants to ensure proper care and maintenance
  • Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings to promote healthy growth
  • Apply fertilizers to enhance plant development
  • Monitor plants for signs of insect or disease damage and report to management
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens to maintain a healthy environment
  • Clean the work area to maintain a safe and efficient workspace
Requirements:
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • Experience: Experience an asset
  • Work site environment: Floriculture production, outdoors, confined spaces, wet/damp, hot, cold/refrigerated, non-smoking
  • Work setting: Rural area
  • Transportation/travel information: Own transportation required, public transportation not available
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, attention to detail
  • Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Personal suitability: Reliability, team player
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, and physically demanding conditions. The work site will be outdoors, with exposure to wet/damp, hot, and cold/refrigerated conditions.
