Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Greenhouse Labourer to assist in the production of bedding plants and seasonal plants. The successful candidate will be responsible for mixing and preparing soils, potting and re-potting plants, transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings, applying fertilizers, and reporting signs of insect or disease damage.

Responsibilities:
  • Mix and prepare soils for plant growth
  • Pot and re-pot plants as needed
  • Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings into larger containers
  • Apply fertilizers to promote healthy plant growth
  • Monitor plants for signs of insect or disease damage and report any issues to management
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens as needed
  • Clean the work area to maintain a safe and healthy environment
Requirements:
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • Experience: Experience an asset
  • Physical demands: Fast-paced environment, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Attention to detail: Ability to monitor plants for signs of insect or disease damage
Work Environment:

The Greenhouse Labourer will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on floriculture production. The work site will be outdoors, with exposure to confined spaces, wet/damp conditions, hot temperatures, and cold/refrigerated conditions.

Transportation:

The successful candidate will be required to provide their own transportation to and from work, as public transportation is not available.

Language:

The primary language of communication will be English.Hours of Work:

The Greenhouse Labourer will work 40 to 45 hours per week, with a temporary work term.
