Job Summary

The Clinical Manager is responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality nursing care to residents in a resident home area. This includes planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of care as prescribed by a resident's physician and care plan. The Clinical Manager will provide support to the nursing team, liaise with families and residents, and lead or participate in committees or working groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the care and services within a resident home area
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of care standards, facility policy, and procedure
  • Establish and implement annual goals and objectives for the Nursing Department
  • Participate in inter-disciplinary conferences and provide support in completion of meetings and documents
  • Ensure resident health care records are accurate and up-to-date
  • Assign staff and schedule work assignments in accordance with staff complements
  • Support the admission of new residents and orientate new residents and their families to the facility
  • Assist in the development and ongoing review of individualized care plans
  • Monitor the use and maintenance of supplies and equipment on the unit
  • Perform all duties in accordance with written policies and procedures of Extendicare, the facility, and the Nursing Department
Requirements
  • Current registration status with the Manitoba Nurses Association of Registered Nurses or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses' Association of Manitoba
  • Nursing Administration certificate, Bachelor of Nursing Degree, or equivalent is preferred
  • Some supervisory experience is also preferred
  • Ability to supervise and direct the work and learning of others
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff, residents, families, and the public and community resource personnel
