Teaching Assistant Opportunity at Brock University

Brock University is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Teaching Assistant for the COSC 4P84 course. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructor and contributing to the delivery of an exceptional student experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the instructor in preparing and delivering course materials, including seminars and lectures.
  • Provide support to students during scheduled contact time, including office hours and consultation sessions.
  • Mark and grade assignments and exams, and provide feedback to students.
  • Attend lectures and participate in course administration as required.
Requirements:
  • Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 80% in the course.
  • Applicants must be at least a fourth-year student currently enrolled in Computer Science with a major average of 75%, or who have completed a Computer Science Degree.
  • The successful applicant must have effective communication skills, including the ability to explain subject material to students, be punctual in attending classes, and be able to meet appropriate deadlines.
Compensation:

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate, while employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate.

In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant's duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
