Role Overview

Cavendish Farms Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join their team. As a key member of the Agriculture Research and Development department, you will be responsible for executing research trials, including site selection, planning, and design of experiments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare field trial layouts, maps, and ensure timely availability of materials required for trials.
  • Perform field work, including planting, spraying, irrigating, scouting, harvesting, and grading of field research plots.
  • Crop pest and disease assessment, as well as soil and tissue sampling.
  • Ensure data collection is recorded according to established methodology and processed through statistical analysis.
  • Apply quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of test results and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare schedules to organize time and resources required.
  • Create and manage an annual operational activity plan for the Ag Research program, including people demand forecasting, cost management, and purchasing of materials and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Crop Science, Plant Genetics, or Agronomy.
  • Relevant years of experience in Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • Work experience in potato crop is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented research environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications and database programs.
