Senior Research Scientist

Role Overview
The Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for the execution of all operational and technical aspects of research trials, including site selection, planning, and design of experiments and small plot activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and preparation of field trial layouts, maps, and ensuring timely availability of materials required for trials.
- Performing field work, including planting, spraying, irrigating, scouting, harvesting, and grading of field research plots.
- Crop pest and disease assessment, as well as soil and tissue sampling.
- Ensuring data collection is recorded according to pre-established methodology and data is processed and interpreted through adequate statistical analysis.
- Applying standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Preparing an annual, monthly, weekly, and daily activities schedule to organize time and resources required.
- Creating and managing an annual operational activity plan for the Ag Research program, including people demand forecasting, cost management, purchasing of materials and equipment required.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree in a relevant field, coupled with a significant track record of experience in Agronomy, Plant Science, or any relevant field. They should demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities, leadership skills, the capacity to collaborate, and a willingness to learn.
Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture/Crop Science/Plant Genetics/Agronomy is required.
- Relevant years of experience in Agronomy, Plant Science, or any relevant field is required.
- Work experience in potato crop is preferred.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, research environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft applications and database programs.
