Learning Specialist

The Learning Specialist plays a vital role in supporting students with developmental disabilities and significant learning challenges. This position requires a strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty to modify curriculum and implement necessary accommodations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students in maximizing their learning potential through individualized support and advocacy
- Collaborate with faculty to modify course outlines, tests, and assignments to meet students' learning needs
- Provide tutoring and support services to students in a teaching/learning environment
- Use assistive and adaptive technologies to support student learning
- Champion an inclusive approach to students' college experience
- Minimum of a 2-year diploma in a relevant field, such as Developmental Service Worker, Educational Assistant, or Social Service Worker
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities/significant learning challenges
- Experience in a teaching/learning environment and proficient use of standard computer applications and assistive/adaptive technologies
- Advanced knowledge of developmental disabilities and learning strategies to support student success
- Knowledge of adult learning principles/styles and ability to work with faculty to modify curriculum and implement necessary accommodations
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms- Support Group: Pay Band H
- Start Rate: $36.29/hour
- Hours per week: 35
- Discontinuance Period: June 20, 2025 to August 8, 2025
