Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilities Maintenance: Ensure that all facilities are clean, tidy, and well-maintained, including hallways, floors, stairs, and bathrooms.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate industrial vacuum cleaners, sweepers, and other equipment to remove debris and maintain a clean environment.
  • Waste Management: Empty trash cans and other waste containers, and ensure that all waste is disposed of properly.
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting: Clean and disinfect bathrooms, fixtures, and other high-touch areas to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Snow and Ice Removal: Remove snow and ice from walkways and parking areas to ensure safe access to our facilities.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Partnerships: Participate in government or community programs that support newcomers and refugees, and assist with their immediate settlement needs.
  • Integration Support: Support the social and labour market integration of newcomers and refugees, including facilitating access to community resources and language training.
  • Recruitment: Recruit newcomers and refugees who were displaced by conflict or natural disaster, and provide them with support and resources to help them integrate into our workplace.
Support for Youth:
  • Partnerships: Participate in government or community programs that support youth employment, and offer on-the-job training and mentorship opportunities.
  • Awareness Training: Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
Support for Veterans:
  • Partnerships: Participate in government or community programs that support veterans, and offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities.
  • Transition Support: Assist veterans with their transition into the civilian workforce, including providing resources and support to help them adapt to our workplace.
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Partnerships: Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people, and develop relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Cultural Competency: Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
Support for Mature Workers:
  • Partnerships: Participate in government or community programs that support mature workers, and apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination.
  • Phased Retirement: Offer phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload, including flexible or reduced work hours, part-time employment, or project-based work.
Support for Visible Minorities:
  • Partnerships: Participate in government or community programs that support visible minorities, and apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination.
  • Mentorship: Offer mentorship programs that pair visible minority employees with experienced employees, and provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment.
