Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Janitorial Assistant to join our team at Delson Technologies Inc./Technologies Delson Inc. as a Facilities Maintenance Worker. This is a permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Maintenance: Perform a variety of tasks to maintain the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing hallways, floors, and stairs.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, and other refuse.
  • Waste Management: Empty trash cans and other waste containers.
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting: Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings, and clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures.
  • Physical Labor: Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, and water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • Cleaning Snow and Ice: Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Participation in Government or Community Programs: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Immediate Settlement Needs: Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, such as housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.
  • Social and Labour Market Integration: Support the social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.
  • Recruitment: Recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster, such as Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.
  • Credential Recognition: Support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • Mentorship Programs: Offer mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.
  • Diversity and Cross-Cultural Training: Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
Support for Youths
  • Participation in Government or Community Programs: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment.
  • On-the-Job Training: Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for youth.
  • Awareness Training: Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
Support for Veterans
  • Participation in Government or Community Programs: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Veterans.
  • Awareness Training: Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans.
  • Recruitment: Recruit Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives, such as job fairs, outreach programs, etc.
  • Transition Support: Assist with immediate transition needs of Veterans, such as relocation, housing, etc.
  • Workshops and Counselling: Offer workshops, counselling services, or other resources to help Veterans navigate their transition into the civilian workforce.
  • Skills Translation: Support Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market.
  • Flexible Onboarding: Offer flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Participation in Government or Community Programs: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Cultural Competency Training: Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
Support for Mature Workers
  • Participation in Government or Community Programs: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers.
  • Hiring Policies: Apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination.
  • Awareness Training: Provide staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for mature workers.
  • Phased Retirement: Offer phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload, such as flexible or reduced work hours, part-time employment, project-based or seasonal work, etc.
  • Phased Re-entry: Offer phased re-entry options for mature workers who are returning to work after retiring, such as gradually increasing hours and responsibilities.
  • Workspace Accommodations: Provide workspace accommodations, such as age-appropriate ergonomic considerations, to meet the physical needs of mature workers, such as adjustable desks and chairs, accessible parking, etc.
  • Retirement Planning: Offer resources to help mature workers plan their retirement, such as financial planning, access to pension and benefits, lifestyle adjustments, etc.
Supports for Visible Minorities
  • Participation in Government or Community Programs: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities.
  • Hiring Policies: Apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities, such as anonymizing the hiring process, etc.
  • Mentorship Programs: Offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
  • Diversity and Cross-Cultural Training: Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
