About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Welder - Fabrication Specialist to join our team at SMS Silencers Inc. as a key member of our fabrication department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and execute welding process specifications to ensure high-quality fabrication of metal parts and products.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment to cut and shape metal.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal parts and products using welding, brazing, and soldering techniques.
  • Determine the weldability of materials and select the appropriate welding process.
  • Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • Operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations, and seams of metal.
  • Start up, shut down, adjust, and monitor robotic welding production lines.
  • Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment.
Requirements
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move heavy metal parts and equipment.
