We are now seeking an experienced Strategic Initiatives Coordinator to join our Office of the President team.

Job Summary

This is a full-time continuing position reporting to the Chief of Staff, responsible for leading, coordinating, implementing, tracking, and completing projects and events that support the institution's strategic vision and priorities. Your work may be confidential and will require tact, nuance, and balancing multiple priorities.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Identify, develop, and refine projects and initiatives that align with MacEwan's strategic direction, working closely with the Chief of Staff.
  2. Maintain full life cycle ownership for assigned projects, including project planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and debriefing.
  3. Lead or support institutional events, such as the State of the University Address and Chancellor Speaker Series.
  4. Contribute to university-wide strategic documents and institutional reporting, including the Annual Report.
  5. Manage issues and organizational change, developing change management and communication plans as needed.
  6. Develop briefings, presentations, speaking notes, and other documents to support the President and advance the University's strategic priorities.
  7. Build effective working relationships across the university to identify opportunities for collaboration.
  8. Raise urgent and/or sensitive issues, assessing options, implications, and risks, and providing recommendations to the Chief of Staff.
Key Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning, project management, communications, and institutional effectiveness; experience in higher education/public sector preferred.
  • Results-oriented individual with ability to multitask, take initiative, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated political and business acumen, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles and experience leading complex projects.
  • Ability to gather data, analyze, and synthesize information to make recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions on sensitive projects.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to act as a positive role model and develop trust through honesty and integrity.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public policy, business, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible professional experience in strategic planning, project management, or a related role.
  • Training or certification in project management is an asset.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or related public sector environment is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other common office programs.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Salary and Benefits

This full-time continuing position offers a competitive salary of $90,208 to $121,950 per annum. Our total compensation package includes a comprehensive benefits plan and opportunities for career growth and development.
