Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Health Program Manager to lead our health department in shíshálh Nation. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional who wants to make a difference in the lives of our community members.

About the Role
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Health Department, ensuring that staff work within their scope of practice, role, and responsibilities.
  • This includes preparing the Community Health Plan based on community needs, priorities, and care program activities.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs, maximizing available resources based on plans.
  2. Collect, assess, analyze, and apply information, including data, facts, concepts, and theories, using them to manage both projects and systems.
  3. Consult and collaborate with other healthcare professional members of the team to ensure community health programs are appropriate and directed towards community needs.
  4. Collaborate with Health Department staff to address disaster planning and emergency preparedness.
  5. Direct, supervise, and coordinate the activities and work of the departmental staff.
  6. Provide recommendations and ensure the Divisional Manager is briefed on all relevant matters.
  7. Evaluate and report on the success of programs, developing evaluation criteria as needed.
  8. Plan and administer budgets for programs, equipment, and support services.
  9. Develop solutions to improve current business processes and make them more efficient.
  10. Ensure efficient and effective financial management of health programs and services.
Qualifications
  • A Master's in Health or Social Science.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in managing programs and services, including managing staff and budgets in a related field.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the above will be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience with current issues and programs related to First Nations and wellness programs.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and motivate staff, plan and organize work activities, and establish effective working relationships with clients, staff, and external stakeholders.
