Drive Business Growth with Seaspan

The Director, Business Development, will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of Seaspan's business by identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities in target market segments. This strategic leader will develop and execute capture strategies and plans to secure contracts and expand the company's presence in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to drive growth and expansion
  • Lead capture teams and proposal teams to secure contracts and expand the company's presence
  • Maintain key business development contacts with current and potential customers
  • Interface with other departments and teams to achieve objectives and align with overall Seaspan priorities
  • Provide leadership, creativity, and drive to find solutions that meet customer needs and are acceptable to Seaspan
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of professional industry experience advancing complex new business development strategies and bid proposals in the shipbuilding industry or a complex defence, aerospace, or systems development, manufacturing, or construction industry
  • University degree in a relevant area preferred
  • Proven track record of identifying and closing on new business opportunities in government procurement markets
  • Experience leading and closing complex opportunities with contract values over $5M and ideally over $50M
  • Broad understanding of technical, programmatic, financial, and commercial aspects of complex deals
  • Experience with forming and maintaining strategic industry partnerships and supplier arrangements as part of a capture strategy

The estimated salary for this position is $169,800 - $203,800. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors, including the successful candidate's skillset and experience, as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
