Job Overview

You will report to the Manager, Environment and Permitting, and collaborate closely with environment and engineering professionals at our Calgary office and Ekati site. As the Water Management Advisor, your primary responsibility is to develop and execute water management strategies for the Ekati Diamond Mine.

This role involves working a Monday-to-Friday schedule at our Corporate Office in Calgary, AB, with occasional travel to the Ekati mine site, Indigenous communities, and other destinations dictated by business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead life-of-mine and mid-range water management planning, including underground workings and open pit dewatering, lake/pond water transfer, and mine water discharge.
  • Develop and maintain water balance and quality models.
  • Manage water balance and quality databases.
  • Develop and update water management plans and procedures.
  • Supervise water management consultants in surface water and groundwater modeling and report preparation.
  • Identify and mitigate water management risks, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in water management-related permitting proceedings and stakeholder engagement events.
  • Provide water management inputs during Life-of-Mine and mid/short-range mine planning processes.
  • Offer training and guidance on water management principles and plans to colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in geoscience or engineering with a focus on water management.
  • Master's degree and relevant professional designation would be considered an asset.
  • At least 10 years of progressive technical experience in mine water management and planning.
  • Working knowledge of water management/modelling and database management software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience working in the consulting or mining industry, and in northern Canada.

Additional Information
