Commercial Arrangement Strategy Developer

Osler, a leading Canadian business law firm, seeks a skilled professional to develop and implement the firm's client engagement process as it relates to rates and fee arrangements.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Pricing, the Commercial Arrangement Advisor will work closely with client relationship partners to foster dialogue with clients and create synergies. The successful candidate will play a key role in the Pricing team, working to achieve timely and accurate financial processing of client financial arrangements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of client fee arrangements, ensuring accurate and timely billing.
- Lead the annual client/matter rate renewal strategy and process.
- Work with the Senior Manager, Pricing to align various pricing strategies.
- Liaise with the Billing Management Committee to develop the firm's fee strategy.
- Communicate updates and escalation plans to Firm Management as required.
- Provide coaching and support to partners to enhance client relationships.
- Proactively manage the portfolio of rate renewals and enable a tracking system.
- Analyze profitability of fee arrangements to demonstrate client value and firm profitability.
- Understand legal industry trends and its impact on fee arrangements.
Position Requirements:
The position requires a university degree in a business discipline and a minimum of five years of progressive experience. Prior work experience in a finance/billing/project management function within the legal or professional services industry is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- General experience working in a law firm Finance department and familiarity with eBilling systems and accounting systems.
- An understanding of law firm economics, billing processes, and pricing strategies.
- Excellent drafting and verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly responsive with a service-oriented attitude.
- Personal integrity and judgment, coupled with a strong work ethic.
- Self-motivated, highly organized with excellent time management skills.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong analytical skills to prepare concise and actionable insight.
- Solid knowledge of Excel and other MS Office products.
