Associate Physician, Spine Surgery Specialist

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Associate Physician, Spine Surgery to join our team at Vancouver General Hospital.
Job Summary:The Associate Physician, Spine Surgery will work under the supervision of the attending Spine surgeon to provide care to patients of the Spine service. The successful candidate will have a strong background in medical or surgical specialties and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage pre-operative, post-operative, and non-operative Spine patients in the inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room setting.
- Coordinate day-to-day care of Spine patients in the hospital, including general patient care duties and response to nursing and other care team members' concerns.
- Develop treatment plans in response to changing patient conditions, in consultation with the attending surgeon.
- Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliation.
- Assist in spine surgical procedures and perform basic bedside procedures as needed.
- Communicate regularly with the attending Spine surgeon and other healthcare professionals.
- Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
- Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist.
- Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
- Must meet the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia's English language proficiency requirements.
- Must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in the Associate Physician class.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
