Organization Overview:
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is actively looking for an Associate Physician to become part of their General Surgery division at Vancouver General Hospital.
Role Overview:
The Associate Physician (AP) in General Surgery will operate under the guidance of the lead general surgeon to deliver care to patients at Vancouver General Hospital. The AP will engage with a multidisciplinary team to guarantee the delivery of superior care to patients undergoing general surgical procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- A minimum of two years of postgraduate training in a medical or surgical specialty
- Proficiency in the English language
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage common conditions in perioperative general surgery patients
- Conduct general surgical operations
- Effectively communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals
- Accurately document patient information
- Collaborate within a team-oriented environment
Assessment Process:
The AP will participate in a 12-week evaluation period to assess their proficiency in the relevant specialty areas. The evaluation will encompass fundamental clinical skills, communication abilities, and specialized knowledge pertinent to the clinical setting.
Compensation and Benefits:
The AP will receive remuneration in line with provincial standards and will have access to benefits including extended health coverage and paid time off.
