Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is actively looking for an Associate Physician to become part of their General Surgery department at Vancouver General Hospital.
Role Summary:
The Associate Physician (AP) in General Surgery will operate under the guidance of the lead general surgeon to deliver care to patients at Vancouver General Hospital. The AP will engage with a multidisciplinary team to guarantee the delivery of exceptional care to patients undergoing general surgical procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- At least two years of postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist
- Proficiency in the English language
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage prevalent issues in perioperative general surgery patients
- Conduct general surgical operations
- Effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals
- Accurately document patient information
- Collaborate within a team-oriented environment
Evaluation Process:
The AP will complete a 12-week probationary period to evaluate their competencies in the designated specialty areas. The assessment will encompass fundamental clinical skills, communication abilities, and specialized knowledge relevant to the clinical setting.
Compensation and Benefits:
The AP will receive remuneration in accordance with provincial standards and will be entitled to benefits including extended health coverage and paid time off.
