Job Overview

The Director Business Development at Gibson Energy ULC is accountable for developing strategies and objectives for the business through the identification, evaluation, and execution of existing and new business growth opportunities. This position is responsible for generating leads that assist with successful completion and deal closure while maintaining and enhancing business relationships with existing customers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a detailed understanding of all existing operations across Gibson Energy's asset base.
  2. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the broader energy industry fundamentals and emerging market trends in the energy transition space.
  3. Originate new infrastructure opportunities within the company's strategy.
  4. Maintain and grow a strong external contact portfolio across multiple industry products.
  5. Collaborate effectively cross-functionally across various internal business units.
  6. Drive projects through origination, internal evaluation, negotiation, project approval, construction, and in-service.
  7. Negotiate letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, contracts, and acquisition agreements.

Requirements

  • University degree or diploma in a related field.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of business development and/or sales experience or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Proven business development/sales experience with strong results in origination of new projects.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy sources and traditional crude oil, condensate, natural gas liquids, and refined products markets and assets.
  • Experience in developing and presenting thorough proposals to customers, executives, and board members.
  • Ability to persuade, convince, and influence others for the purpose of achieving desired results.
  • Proven ability to successfully build trust and rapport with customers.

Working Conditions

  • This is an office-based position in Calgary, Alberta.
  • Periodic travel to company/customer locations within Canada and the United States.
