Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist - Clinical Team Unit to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and supporting the vision and values of our organization.

About the RoleThe Medical Specialist - Clinical Team Unit will work under the supervision of the Most Responsible Provider (MRP) and will be accountable to the CTU Medical Director. Your duties will include participating in patient rounds, assessing day-to-day care, performing and documenting medical procedures, developing treatment plans, and communicating with patients and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities• Participate in patient rounds under the supervision of the CTU Attending
• Assess the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders and responding to changing patient conditions
• Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliation
• Develop treatment plans in response to changing patient conditions
• Follow through on investigations and consultancy recommendations
• Communicate with patients, family members, and other consulting services concerning patient care plans
• Perform procedures within the scope of your demonstrated competence
• Participate in professional development activities and quality improvement projects

RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you must have a medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and a minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist. You must also meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements and be eligible for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class.

CompetenciesThis role requires strong leadership practices, including clear communication, empathy, and courage. You must also have the ability to diagnose and manage common medical problems, including pain management and emergency situations. Excellent computer and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team-based environment, are essential.

Educational Requirements• Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools
• Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist
• Meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements

Salary and BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary range of $150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
