Machine Learning Data Scientist for Sports Gaming

We are seeking a skilled Machine Learning Data Scientist to join our team at ROSS in Toronto, Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a well-established leader in online sports gaming and contribute to the development of innovative mathematical models for automated trading applications.
Job DescriptionAs a Machine Learning Data Scientist, you will be responsible for developing algorithms that will form the basis of our understanding of sports markets. You will need to have a strong background in Machine Learning and Algorithm Development experience. Your primary focus will be on:
- Performing industrial research by developing math models and algorithms for automated trading applications
- Evaluating state-of-the-art statistical modeling and Machine Learning approaches using large amounts of historical data
- Data Analysis, Visualization, and Modeling with large datasets
- Data Acquisition, Cleaning, and Transformation
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Statistics, or equivalent
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Initiative to work independently, but also able to work effectively with team members in different locations
- Flexibility and adaptability to business requirements and priority changes
It would be beneficial if you had experience with:
- Strong background in statistics
- Machine Learning algorithms and Probabilistic Models
- Domain experience in online gaming and entertainment industry, Financial Markets (such as Stock Exchange, Options, Bonds, ForEx, etc.), or other types of 2-sided markets
- SQL and SQL Server
- Modern R packages and technologies such as dplyr, tidyR, data.table, shinyR
- Python and/or .NET (C# or VB)
- Relevant experience with R or Python (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, etc.)
- Experience using cloud computing platforms such as EC2 (AWS)
- Neural Networks or Deep Learning on large problems
- Hadoop, MapReduce, or High Performance Computing
This full-time position offers a competitive salary of approximately $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits. The successful candidate must be available to spend 1-2 months in Curacao to receive extensive training about the sports gaming domain. All expenses related to the training will be covered by the company.
