Company Overview

Anishinabek Employment & Training Services is a First Nation mandated technical service organization dedicated to supporting the technical and engineering needs of First Nations communities in Ontario.

We provide technical advisory services to 133 First Nations in eight core areas: Water and Wastewater, Operations and Maintenance, Infrastructure, Housing, Fuel Systems Management, Fire and Safety, Environment, and Engineering. Our mission is to help First Nations achieve technical self-reliance.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum (estimated)

Job Description

The Board of Directors meets two to four times per year. As a Strategic Transformation Director, you will play a key role in providing expertise in water and wastewater, First Nation infrastructure maintenance/construction/asset management, environmental science/management, and working with First Nation political leaders.

You will also work closely with Federal and Ontario government decision-makers, oversee strategic First Nations initiatives, and bring your expertise in research and developing technology to our team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Expertise in water and wastewater
  • Expertise in First Nation infrastructure maintenance/construction/asset management
  • Expertise in environmental science/management
  • Expertise working with First Nation political leaders
  • Expertise and demonstrated success working and negotiating with Federal and Ontario government decision-makers
  • Expertise working for and in First Nation communities
  • Executive-level experience in research and developing technology
  • Experience overseeing strategic First Nations initiatives
  • Board Governance Experience
  • Knowledge of corporate legalities
  • Financial oversight expertise (preference to relevant AFOA Canada certifications and CPA)
  • Information and Information Technology expertise
  • Knowledge of legal and fiduciary duties of directors is essential
  • Training and experience as a corporate director is preferred
