Senior Child Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Child Protection Specialist to join our team at the Government of Prince Edward Island. As a key member of our social services team, you will play a critical role in delivering child protection services to Indigenous children and families in a culturally safe and responsive manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and respond to child protection reports, ensuring timely and effective interventions to mitigate risk and promote child safety.
- Provide focused intervention services to families and children, working collaboratively with community partners to address complex needs and promote positive outcomes.
- Conduct thorough assessments, gathering and reviewing relevant information, and conducting interviews with children, parents, caregivers, and other relevant sources.
- Develop and implement case plans, ensuring ongoing contact with families and regular risk assessments to ensure child safety.
- Collaborate with community partners to develop and implement general and targeted recruitment initiatives for foster care resources.
- Master's degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in child protection or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultural practices and protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
