Job Title: Senior Child Protection Social Worker

The Government of Prince Edward Island is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Child Protection Social Worker to join our team. As a Senior Child Protection Social Worker, you will be responsible for delivering a continuum of child protection services to Indigenous children and families in a manner that promotes and preserves their cultural identity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and assess Child Protection reports to determine if they meet the criteria for investigation and respond accordingly.
  • Provide Focused Intervention services to families and children to mitigate child protection risk in accordance with the Child Protection Act and Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children, Youth and Families.
  • Gather and review file information, contact collateral sources, and conduct interviews with children, parents, caregivers, and other relevant sources of information.
  • Conduct home visits, arrange for medical exams, and assess the mental or emotional well-being of children.
  • Develop case plans to reduce the risk of harm to children and ensure their safety in accordance with the Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children, Youth and Families.
  • Plan, develop, and implement general and targeted recruitment initiatives in response to the demand for foster care resources.
Requirements:
  • Eligible for travel reimbursement as per the Collective Agreement.
